Although these are Self Catering apartments the complex has a nice restaurant for lunch and dinner and the adjacent hotel, the Odjo D'Agua, has one of the best on the island.

In the main town square, just a walk away, there are numerous restaurants, including a Pizza parlor, with Gelataria (ice cream parlor) next door, The Irish owned TamTam bar and a new Mediterranean restaurant which serves excellent food.

Further along the coast there are restaurants and hotels along the beach with both good food and some of which also have entertainment.

For October and February we have managed to negotiate no increase in the excellent pricing we secured at the Porto Antigo apartment complex. These self contained apartments are spread over 2 areas surrounding the Odjo D'Agua Hotel and are right on the beach in the heart of Santa Maria.

Porto Antigo I is to the left of the hotel (and pictured left here), as you look out to sea, and has a secluded private beach protected from the ocean currents by retaining walls. The soft white sand can be enjoyed all day and is perfectly safe for young children, so long as you keep the normal watching brief over the younger ones. Both the pool and the beach area have comfortable loungers for guests to use and there is a good quality restaurant which serves all kinds of food, from pizzas to Guinness beef pie.

All apartments have:

• A Fully Equipped Kitchenette
• 1 or 2 bedrooms
• A sofa bed in the lounge
• Air conditioning
• Television
• Extra beds and cots can be made up on request
• Use of fresh-water pool
• Use of sun loungers

Breakfasts can be arranged at the Odjo D'Agua Hotel for 10 euros per head per day Many apartments have sea views and can be reserved for an additional fee, subject to availability.
