Apart from nice weather and the chance to get away people have different reasons for attending a training camp.
Your aims are likely to vary dependent on your level of competition and the distance you're going to race. Here are some of the benefits of attending a Tri-Specific camp;
Undertake all coaching at our camps. As well as being triathlon coaches they all have other specialist areas within sports coaching. All believe that Technique is the starting point to good performance, so technical analysis forms a major part of any camp.
As an example, look at the video on this page, which shows how we analyse run technique, taken at a previous Cape Verde training camp.
Example:- of Run Technique Analysis
Youth and Junior
Youth & Junior
Assess swim technique and critical swim speed
Practice open water swimming
Get real slipstreaming practice in readiness for draft legal racing (all IRC competitions were open water elite format in 2009)
Asses run technique & form practices
Set speed goals for the season
Novice & Sprint Distance
Have your swim technique analysed & learn corrective drills specific to you.
Begin to run correctly to minimise chances of injury.
Kick start your cycling and learn correct techniques for cornering, descending etc.
Set yourself reasonable time targets for your season..
Standard Distance
Analyse stroke technique and realistic training and racing paces.
Open water practice to sight, navigate and swim at the best possible speed.
Assess swim, cycle and run speeds and look at maximising these over one season.
Kick start your cycle at both the distance and intensity you need to race this season.
Have your running analyses so you can maximise speed and endurance - with enough time to implement any necessary changes.
Minimise your time through transitions.
Long Distance
Cape Verde is a perfect replica of conditions in Lanzarote and Hawaii
Cycle into a strong headwind for 1/2 your ride - then.....
Zoom along with the wind at your back for speed training.
Open water swim in 20 to 22 degrees.
Kick start your distance training.
Maximise your distance per stroke to swim at speed with minimum effort.
Learn to run with good leg speed to save energy.
Set realistic goals for your long distance races and plan to hit those goals in steady and achievable steps.
Plus:- all athletes will learn good strength and conditioning practices to increase stability and core strength, minimise the chance of injury and make correct technique and positioning far easier to achieve.
