The routes we've calculated take in some very hard sections.
All swim distance races head out next to the pier, excellent for viewing both from the beach and the pier itself, then take an out and back route along the beach, as far as Porto Antigo for the medium and long distance races slightly shorter for the rest. Then out onto a sandy beach run either around for a second lap or into transition.
On the cycle there will be some strong headwind sections, climbing from 0 mtrs to 165 mtrs and even cobble stones to finish the cycle ride.
The runs are all a multi loop of 2.5 km out looping through the town and returning alomg the beach path, finally finishing on the sandy beach of Santa Maria.

We are currently working with the Camera Municipal (local government offices) in Sal to find the best possible route for the Cape Verde Triathlon. The Mayor, Jorge Eduardo St. Aubyn de Figueiredo (left), and the minister for Sport and the Young are eager to find good sporting and commercial ties for the island and see Sal and triathlon as natural partners. There are 4 different distance races we're considering:
